Herba Co.-
The Herba Co. was located in
Providence. It was at 139 Wendell St. in 1895-99, selling “distilled
water etc.” In 1895-99 Thomas H. McCusker was the manger. He was
previously employed at the Vinton Drug Co. in 1894. They were at 570
Plainfield St. in 1900-01. They were now selling distilled water,
herba, and soda. Clinton E. Walch was running the Pocasset Ice Co.
at this location in 1900. Thomas was operating a bowling alley in
1902.

When the Nickel-Tone Mfg. Co. went out
of business, the owner James S. Barry created the Herb-O Phosa Co.
His Phosa drink was being sold at the same time as Modox (1907). It
was located at 233 West Exchange St. from 1909-1922.

Timothy E. Hickey & Co.-
Timothy Edward Hickey (d. 1917) was a
bottler in Providence. He succeeded Edward Postens in 1872. In 1875
he was selling soda water, sarsaparilla, and Belfast ginger ale. In
1875-1880 he was at 10 Planet St. The company became T.E. Hickey &
Co. in 1880. Hickey & Pierce were at 10 Planet St. in 1881 (T.E.
Hickey & Co. that year too). It was back to T.E. Hickey &
Co. in 1882. In 1883-1891 he was at Planet St. cor. S. Main St.
Alternative listings have the Hickey Bros. at 6 Planet St. from
1883-86. In 1889 he was selling mineral waters. He was at 6 Planet
St. from 1892-1902. The Maine Spring Water Co. was also at this
address in 1901-02.
