Maine Bottling Co.-
The Maine Bottling Co. was in
Providence. It was not listed in 1920, but in 1921-23 it was at 55
Hope St. In 1921-27 Angello Alvernaz was the proprietor. In 1925 it
was at 117 Gano St. It was owned by Turbitt & Co. at the time.
That same year an ad stated it was manufacturing “Hope Club
Beverages”. It was the Maine Bottling Co. Inc. in 1926. It was at
115-117 Gano St. in 1924-27. It was not listed in 1928. It was at
73 Hope St. in 1929-1930. Emanuel Tsagarakis was the owner in 1929.
Julius Moskol was the owner in 1930. Another listing has Melvin
Moskol as the owner in 1930-31. In 1931 it was at 18 Laura St. in
East Providence. Milton M. Moskol was the proprietor at this
location. In 1931 Julius and Melvin opened the Washington Bottling
Co. (formerly in New Bedford, Mass) at 364 Washington St. By 1936 it
was the Colonial Bottling Co.

Maine Spring Water Co.-
The Maine Spring Water Co. was in
Providence. It succeeded T.E. Hickey & Co. It was a 6 Planet
St. in 1901-02. Ransford H. Harvey was the owner in 1901-02. They
were bottling Mount Oxford Spring Water, and mineral waters in
siphons. They were not listed in 1903.

Manhattan Club Beverages-
The Manhattan Club Beverage Co. was
located in Esmond, RI. It was formerly the Esmond Bottling Works,
which was last listed in 1944. It moved to Woonsocket in the 1950s
(possibly 1954). They were in business into the 1970s.

Hugh H. Manning-
Hugh H. Manning (1858-1919) was a
liquor dealer in Providence. Michael F. Manning, his brother, was
first listed as a liquor dealer in 1884-86 at 95 Eddy St. He was
listed as a clerk in 1887. In 1888-1891 Hugh was running a saloon
with his brother, Michael F. at 71 Eddy St. They were known as the
Manning Bros. at the time. Hugh was alone at 71 Eddy St. in 1893-95.
He was at 71-73 Eddy St. in 1895. In 1896 he was listed as a
bottler at rear 569 Atwells Ave. He was not listed under liquors or
any other occupation in 1897. In the 1898-99 he was the proprietor
of Hotel Vendrome at 102-104 Pine St. Hugh moved to Memphis, Tenn.
in 1900. Michael F. was still dealing in liquors at 725 Westminster
St. in 1916.

Manville Bottling Co.-
The Manville Bottling Co. was located
in Manville, RI. It was first listed in 1911, and dealt in liquors.
It was on Spring St. in 1911. Morris Blackman (1889-1981?) and David
S. Kniznik (1888-1943) were the owners. In 1913 Morris (or Maurice)
Blackman of the Manville Bottling Co. filed for bankrupcy. They were
at 2 Spring St. in 1913. They were listed as bottlers in 1914. The
company was not listed in 1915 or 1917. It was at 111 Daniels St.
from 1920-22.
